Thai League 2020 – Matchday 2 Best XI

Check out Football Tribe’s Thai League Team of the Week for Matchday 2

Goalkeeper

Name: Chatchai Budprom

Age: 33

Nationality: Thailand

Club: BG Pathum United

It was a dull performance from BG Pathum United at PT Prachuap FC on the weekend, and especially worrying for the Rabbits defense, which was torn to pieces by William Henrique and company up top. Luckily, Chatchai Budprom was alert on the night - playing a crucial role as BGPU stole a point on the road.

Center-Back

Name: Thithavee Aksornsri

Age: 22

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Police Tero

The Thai U23 international helped his side collect a second consecutive win. Thithavee also registered an assist with his excellent ball in for Kirati Kaewsombat to score Tero's second goal.

Center-Back

Name: Pawee Tanthatemee

Age: 23

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Ratchaburi FC

Despite heavy interest elsewhere, Pawee Tanthatemee stayed and played a vital part in the early stage of the season as Ratchaburi collected 2 wins on the run. There seemed to be a more vocal presence from the Thai international and he even got himself on the scoresheet, extending Ratchaburi lead in the 72nd minutes.

Center-Back

Name: Issac Honey

Age: 26

Nationality: Ghana

Club: Police Tero

The Ghanian defender won every challenge in his box - whether it's a quick through ball, a whipped or lopped cross, or anything else. You name it, it's not getting past Honey. He has developed so much as a defender since the last time we saw him and could prove to be a big player for head coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok throughout 2020.

Right Midfielder

Name: Narubadin Weerawatnodom

Age: 25

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Buriram United

Competing to establish himself as Thailand's first-choice right-back, the space offered to Narubadin down the flank against Chonburi on Saturday allowed him to showcase the full extent of his attacking talent. Consistently helping his side push forward, Narubadin got himself on the scoresheet to net his side's fourth on the break with a powerful strike from the edge of the box.

Central Midfielder

Name: Hajime Hosogai

Age: 33

Nationality: Japan

Club: Bangkok United

The defensive midfielder was a menace to Muangthong's playmakers all game, stifling the side's main hubs and offering them no room to breathe. Alexandre Gama tried to overload the midfield with creative talent to hurt Bangkok United from quick turnovers, but the Japanese veteran was there to snuff out every chance and help his side pick up a valuable win.

Central Midfielder

Name: Go Seul-Ki

Age: 33

Nationality: South Korea

Club: Port FC

With a more defensive-minded player alongside him in Kanarin Thawornsak, Go has shown his ability to help his side push forward, and has no intention of slowing down despite his age. Arguably his club's best player last season, the Korean maestro got himself on the scoresheet once again last weekend.

Left Midfielder

Name: Pakorn Prempak

Age: 27

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Port FC

Port's set-piece maestro was at it again on Saturday, partially setting up Go Seul-Ki's goal from a free-kick, before scoring the side's second with a similar cross which missed everyone and found its own way into the back of the net. His proficiency from dead-ball situations adds yet another lethal edge to the Klongtoei Lions' attack, which could be worth a fair few points come the end of the season

Attacking Midfielder

Name: Jakkapan Pornsai

Age: 32

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Ratchaburi FC

The Dragons' assist king was at it again on Sunday, registering two more for his side to help them collect an impressive away win against Sukhothai. Ratchaburi have now picked up six points from a possible six.

Attacking Midfielder

Name: Supachok Sarachart

Age: 21

Nationality: Thailand

Club: Buriram United

Thailand's young gem consistently proved himself to be the most important player for Buriram United last season, and looks set to play a similar role this campaign. Supachok opened his account for the season early in the game by skipping past a pair of Chonburi defenders and finding the net from a difficult angle and added a second by poking in Sasalak Haiprakhon's cross. He was effectively denied a hattrick by a challenge that got Chonburi's Junior Lopes dismissed but made another major contribution by assisting Narubadin for the fourth.

Striker

Name: Leandro Assumpcao

Age: 34

Nationality: Brazil

Club: Nakhon Ratchasima

Leandro Assumpcao's thunderous strike put the Swatcat ahead against Rayong, and it was he who drew the foul that led to Dennis Murillo's 2-0 goal. The experienced Brazilian's holdup play made him the focal point for Swatcat's attack and the difference-maker in this must-win game against the newly promoted side.
