Myanmar’s star attacker Aung Thu has decided to return to Yadanarbon ahead of the 2020 season, despite being expected to rejoin Police Tero after their return to T1.
Aung Thu first appeared on the Thai League scene in 2018 with the Fire Dragons, marking the debut of the league’s new ASEAN quota. Despite scoring 11 goals and setting up 8 assists, the attacking midfielder was unable to save Tero from relegation to T2.
However, his performances were enough to earn him a move to Muangthong United, one of the Thai League’s biggest and most successful sides. The Myanmar star arrived with high expectations, which he struggled to live up to in a team devoid of creativity during the first half of the campaign.
OFFICIAL: Yadanabon FC confirm Aung Thu will be back from loan and play for the club next season after the club cannot reach agreement with Police Tero to loan him again for 1 more year.

After failing to cement a place in the starting eleven, it was widely expected that Aung Thu would return to Tero, and reunite with coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok, who had got the best out of him during his first Thai League campaign.
However, Yadanarbon confirmed today that the attacker would be suspending his Thai League adventure in favor of a return to this homeland for 2020. It remains to be seen whether this is a personal choice or one enforced by the club, and whether his ambitions to play abroad continue into the future.
