‘King of Sangam’, Ha Dae-sung has bid farewell to football.
On 9th December, the ex-FC Seoul player wrote a long message on his social media to share his retirement from football. He wrote “It has been 25 years since I began football. It was filled with joy and difficulties along the way. I have received unconditional support from the fans beyond what I deserve.”
He added on to share his view on retirement: “At this point, the past three years at FC Seoul is my biggest regret. I wished to do well for the fans. However, repetitive injuries did not allow me to help the team. It was a long and hard time for me.
“Visiting different hospitals and doctors did help me at first but still, did not refrain injuries from coming. Once again, I would like to thank all the fans who showed amazing support. I retire from football now but I will continue to show a great attitude as a person.”
The 34-year-old began his second stint with Seoul in 2017. His return was warmly welcomed by the fans. On his first stint with FC Seoul, he led the golden time for the club that includes runner-up at Asia’s most prestigious tournament, ACL (Asian Champions League). However, the repetitive injuries did not allow a similar success on his second journey with the capital club.
In the meantime, Han Chan-hee, the Jeonnam Dragons midfielder who plays the same position as Ha has reportedly joined FC Seoul on a trade deal.
