Muangthong United signs ex-Bucheon FC & Avispa Fukuoka striker after Magno Cruz deal collapsed

Thai League 1 (T1) giants Muangthong United signs Brazilian striker Willian Popp after Magno Cruz transfer collapsed

The 25 years old previously played for South Korean side Busan IPark 37 and Bucheon FC as well as J2 League side Avispa Fukuoka. In 2019, Popp netted 6 goals and 2 assists for Brazilian second-tier club Figueirense.

The departure of talisman Heberty Fernandes, who boost a prolific stats of 59 goals and 33 assists in 93 appearances for the Kirins, left a massive void in Alexandre Gama’s squad.

Jeju United striker Magno Cruz was linked with a move to the SCG Stadium before switching his destination, last minute, to Umm Salal in the Qatar Stars League.

Popp is Muangthong United’s second official signing ahead of the 2020 Thai League 1 season after attacking midfielder Saharat Kanyaroj who joined from the now disband club PTT Rayong.
