Vietnamese left-back Doan Van Hau made his debut for Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen on Tuesday night in a KNVB Cup tie against Roda JC.
Coming on as a late substitute for Sherel Floranus, Van Hau was booked in stoppage time as Heerenveen saw out a 2-o win that saw them advance to the third round of the Dutch national cup.
The 20-year-old defender had just returned from helping the Vietnam U23 side win the 2019 SEA Games Gold Medal, and played a crucial role in his side’s success.
Van Hau is currently on loan at the Eredivise side from defending V.League champions Hanoi FC until the end of the current European domestic season in June. Heerenveen also have the opportunity to make the move permanent if they so choose.
