Magician Park Hang Seo

Coach Park Hang-seo once again proved his talent on the bench when guiding Vietnam’s under-22 side to the gold medal at the SEA Games. He faced many difficulties before and during the tournament but he overcame them to take team Vietnam to the historic achievement.

An injury ruled star Quang Hai out of the most important matches, but coach Park still had the solution to solve the problem with the change of the formation from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2 with two strikers. The team responded well to his approach and Vietnam managed to emerge with the Gold Medal.

The important role of overage players

Two overage players, Trong Hoang and Hung Dung, played a very important role in the SEA Games campaign for Vietnam. Hung Dung took the armband from Quang Hai and proved that he is the best box to box midfielder in Vietnam at the moment while Trong Hoang showed his strength and experience with the versatility position he can play.

Vietnam now dominated the ASEAN region

With the AFF Cup title in 2018 and SEA Games gold medal in the 2019, Vietnam now can be considered as the top team in ASEAN. With the guidance of Park Hang Seo, Vietnam can be still the King of the region in the next few year.

Thailand and Malaysia weaker than expected

Thailand and Malaysia were the favorites for the title in the SEA Games but were both eliminated from the group stage. These two teams have both not shown their normal strength and could not progress to the semi-finals.

Vietnam U22 team may be the team to watch in AFC U23 Championship

The players from Vietnam’s U22 team that won the Gold Medal in SEA Games will continue their work together and play in the AFC U23 Championship next month. With the guidance of coach Park Hang Seo, the team could be the surprise of the tournament despite the fact that their squad is not as strong as the team that made it to the finals of the last edition of the tournament in 2018.
