Cambodia Top Group A with 5-0 Win over Timor Leste

Cambodia rose to the top of Group A on goal difference with their 5-0 victory over Timor Leste yesterday. After a 1-1 draw with hosts the Philippines on matchday 1, Cambodia have continued to put themselves in contention for an unlikely qualification to the next round thanks to their most recent victory.

Young striker Sieng Chanthea continued his goalscoring form from the AFC U19 Championships, getting on the scoresheet for his side in their victory. Over-age players Keo Sokpeng and Reung Bunheing also got on the scoresheet, as did fellow youngster Sin Kakada.

Elsewhere, Myanmar managed to pick up their first win of the campaign, with goals from Aung Kaung Mann and Win Naing Tun proving enough to beat the hosts 2-1. This defeat leaves the Philippines in a difficult position with just a solitary point from two games, and a match against group favorites Malaysia to come.

Group B is set to continue in full force today, as Vietnam face Laos, Thailand take on Brunei and Indonesia look to follow up their opening day win against Singapore.
