Argentian striker Bernardo Cuesta is preparing to ‘sign for a major club in Thailand,’ according to a report from Peruvian football media outlet El Bocon.
While the article is yet to name a club, other reports, such as this one from America TV, have claimed that he is on the radar of 2018 champions and all-time most successful club, Buriram United.
This move would make sense given the side’s struggles in the striker department, as they are yet to find a replacement for legendary striker Diogo Luis Santo who departed the club at the beginning of last season.
Buriram is expected to spend big in the off-season after finishing second to Chiangrai United in their first trophyless season since 2010 with the intention of bouncing back next season.
30-year-old striker Cuesta has spent the entirety of his career in South America, playing in Peru, Colombia, Chile, Bolivia and his homeland, Argentina. He is currently in his second spell with Melgar, where he has reportedly scored 35 goals from 57 games since joining in 2018.
