The under-17 Taeguk Warriors secured a last-16 place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019.

Paik Sang-hoon scored on 51 seconds, which was the quickest goal scored by the Korean national team player in the competitions organized by FIFA. Previously, the record had been held by FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan 2002’s hero Seol Ki-hyeon. Paik’s goal is the fifth-quickest in the competition’s history as well.

Hong Sung-wook added another at the half-hour, which contributed to the team’s 2-1 victory over Chile.

With this, South Korea men’s national team in different age categories (U-23, U-20 and U-17) set another record: advancement to the round of 16 10 times consecutively since 2009.
