Persepolis beat Esteghlal in Tehran derby

Persepolis beat Esteghlal 1-0 with Seyed Hossein Hosseini’s own goal in 90th Tehran derby.

Andrea Stramaccioni’s men who were searching their first win of the season, had the chance to take the lead in the first half but Alireza Beiranvand saved Ali Karimi penalty and first half ended in a goalless draw.

In the second half, both teams played physical football and finally Persepolis reached to the winner in 81st minute through Mehdi Abdi.

In his first touch after entering the pitch, the youngster’s kick rebounded out off the post, hit goalkeeper Hosseini’s back, and subsequently bounced into the goal.

Ali Karimi was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in 89th minute and Esteghlal loss confirmed before the final whistle.

With these 3 points, Persepolis sit in second place with 9 points from 4 matches and Esteghlal dropped to relegation zone with just 2 points.
