FIFA officials will visit Iran after tragic death of “Blue girl”

Reuters reports Football International governing body will send their official to Iran after a female football fan dubbed “Blue girl” set herself on fire outside a court.

Women don’t allowed to enter football stadiums is Iran and 30-year-old Sahar Khodayari was one of  the girls who tried to enter Azadi stadium “dressed as a man” in March.

But she who was arrested and being in danger of 6-months jail set herself on fire and died couple of days after at the hospital.

Many football figures and clubs including her favorite one Tehran blue giant Esteghlal have reacted to this tragic incident and now FIFA will send their official to Iran, however A FIFA spokesman says this is not specific response to Khodayari’s death.

FIFA have warned Iran Football Federation to lift the women ban for entering the stadiums several times and Team Melli’s 2020 World cup qualifier against Cambodia is the deadline.

However, many believe FIFA have to put pressure on Iran to lift the ban completely, not just for international matches.
