Iran’s away win against Hong Kong in 2020 World cup qualification

Marc Wilmors’ Iran side have started the 2020 World Cup Qualification campaign with an away win against Hong Kong.

With 120 places above the host, Iran have never suffered in their opening game into the 2020 World Cup and beat Hong Kong with Sardar Azmoun and Karim Ansarifar goals.

Wilmots’ men have dominated the match and peppered Hong Kong goal but have just found the net twice at Hong Kong stadium.

First Zenit striker Sardar Azmoun scored the opener with a decent half-volley in 23 minutes and then Karim Ansarifar sealed the victory with a simple tap-in 9 minutes into the second half.

In this group, Bahrain currently sit at the top with 4 points from 2 matches and Iran are second. Hong Kong, with just 1 points after 2 matches, are in the bottom.
