World Cup third place play off’s referee will leave Iran league

Iran most prestigious referee Alireza Faghani admitted that he will leave Iran league due to personal reasons.
Faghani who is one of the world’s best referees, has officiated 4 matches at the 2018 World Cup including England and Belgium in third place play off.

After that tournament, there had been many speculations about Faghani’s migration to USA but he has refereed in Iran league for one more season and won last year’s referee of the season award.

However, he has finally decided to leave the country and won’t officiate in Iran league anymore.

“I will leave Iran for Australia. My children will study there so I can’t work in Iran league.” He told to Varzesh3.com.

“However, I have negotiated with [Iran Football Federation] Mehdi Taj and I still officiate as Iranian referee in International tournaments. Currently my priority is my family but after their settlement, I will negotiate with Australia Football federation to referee in A-League.”
