Indonesia had a poor start to their World Cup Qualifying campaign, with a 3-2 home loss to bitter rivals Malaysia being followed by incidents of crowd trouble. Amid all the fray, Football Tribe Indonesia’s Steven Danis gives his thoughts on The Garuda and their performance with player ratings:

Andritany Ardhiyasa – 7.5/10: The cpatain did not have his best performance. He did not have much work to do for the first 30 minutes of the match, then his overconfidence led him to make some blunders for Malaysia’s three goals.

Yustinus Pae – 6.5/10: The right side looked stronger as he calmed maintain it until Sumareh came on from the bench to rival him. Two Malaysian goals happened when he out of position. He also didn’t do well offensively like the opposing full-back Fajrin because he had to cope with the threat down the Malaysian left side with Corbin Ong and Sumareh there.

Hansamu Yama – 7/10: Hansamu playing well for 90 minutes, enjoying his battling with Idlan Talaha and the other Malaysian attackers. A real commander at defensive line, he showed his strength in aerial duels against the Malaysian players.

Manahati Lestusen – 7/10: Manahati played as a CB/DM, standing in front of Hansamu and sometimes in line with Zulfiandi. He seemed out of position when Malaysian started attacked but he made our defensive line work in layers, like a ‘catenaccio’ system.
