Hanoi FC regained their place at the top of the V.League table after earning a hard-fought win over Hai Phong. Their return to the top was made possible as league leaders Ho Chi Minh City lost 1-0 away against Viettel.

Goals from Nguyen Van Quyet and Pape Omar Faye gave Hanoi a 2-1 win over Hai Phong despite the fact that they were dominated by the hosts throughout the second half.

This win put the defending champions back in first place with 28 points after Ho Chi Minh City lost 0-1 to Viettel. The previous league leaders failed to score after the departure of two foreign strikers and conceded due to a beautiful goal from the host.

In the other fixtures, Hoang Anh Gia Lai lost to Quang Nam 0-1, while Thanh Hoa claimed their first win under their new coach with a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed team Sanna Khanh Hoa.
