Hanoi edged closer to Ho Chi Minh City at the top of the table after a hard-fought win over Sai Gon FC at home.

Do Hung Dung and Oseni Bolaji scored two unresponded goals for the home side in the match, which allowed them to pick up an invaluable three points.

That win not only helped Hanoi cut down the deficit with Ho Chi Minh City to just two, points but it also extended their 100% winning streak at home from the start of the season.

Hanoi’s win was complemented by Ho Chi Minh City’s failure to get all three points from a match for the second time in a row, with a 0-0 draw against Thanh Hoa. After this weekend, Ho Chi Minh City’s lead over Hanoi has been slashed to only two points.

In the other matches, Than Quang Ninh beat Hai Phong 4-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Rod Dyachenko while Viettel beat Sanna Khanh Hoa 1-0.
