Vietnamese international striker Nguyễn Công Phượng has called time on his spell with Korean club Incheon United.
Công Phượng arrived at the club earlier this year, joining on loan from V.League club Hoàng Anh Gia Lai. The striker’s move came after a number of impressive showings for his country, first with the Olympic team at the 2018 Asian Games, then with the senior team at the 2018 AFF Cup and 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
However, Công Phượng struggled to settle in at Incheon, making eight appearances for the club without finding the net.
Despite making a limited impact on the pitch, Công Phượng’s spell in Korea can be at least partially accredited to the introduction of the new ASEAN Player Quota in the K-League, which is set to be introduced next season.
According to this report from Fox Sports Asia, Công Phượng could be making a move to France, where he is set to begin a month-long trial spell at a yet unnamed club in Ligue 2.
