Ho Chi Minh City extended the gap at the top of the table with a 2-1 win over Song Lam Nghe An.

Foreigner duo Ewonde and Joel helped the league leaders to a 2-0 lead by half time before Song Lam Nghe An scored a consolation goal thanks to Ho Khac Ngoc. With the win, Ho Chi Minh City have now collected 26 points from their opening 11 games.

That win also allowed them to extend their gap over defending champions Hanoi FC to five points, as the capital club slipped up in Nam Dinh.

As always, Hanoi found it very difficult when playing outside their home stadium. Burdened by fitness issues, the defending champions lost 0-2, as Diogo and Vu The Vuong scored for the hosts.

Elsewhere, last years runner up Thanh Hoa continued their fine form with 2-1 win over Saigon FC, while the newcomers Viettel ended their losing streak with 2-0 win over Hái Phong.
