Marcelo Lippi Returns as China Boss

Former World Cup winning manager Marcelo Lippi has returned to take charge of the Chinese national football team for a second time, shortly after departing back in January after their exit at the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

According to this report by Fox Sports, Lippi returns after his successor, former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro, stepped down from the job. Cannavaro was balancing both the national team job and his ongoing role as the coach of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.

After deciding to focus on his club role, Cannavaro left the national team job vacant once again. The Chinese FA announced on Friday that they have re-hired Lippi in preparation for their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign.
