Round 5 of V.League was extremely eventful, with intrigue at both the top and the bottom of the table.

However, the most highlighted incident of the weekend occurred at the Lach Tray Stadium, in a match between Hai Phong and Da Nang. In the 53rd minute, referee Tran Trung Hieu showed the red card for Trinh Van Loi of hosts Hai Phong, but the player who made the foul was Nguyen Huu Phuc. After receiving the huge protests from Hai Phong players and supporters, the referee decided to show the red card for Nguyen Huu Phuc as well.

After this incident, the referee lost control of the match, with both teams committing many fouls as the game descended into chaos. One more red card was shown but if the referee controlled the match better, it could have two more red cards. The match eventually finished in a 1-1 draw.

Elsewhere, Hanoi FC dropped points on the road with a 0-0 draw against host Sanna Khanh Hoa. The defending champions suffered an unbelievable miss as Oseni Bolaji failed to hit the target in front of an open goal in the 84th minute.

That result means that Ho Chi Minh City FC returned to the top of the table with a 3-2 win over B.Binh Duong, having collected an impressive 13 points after 5 games. At the bottom of the table, national team player Bui Tien Dung score a single goal to help Viettel FC deafeat Nam Dinh 1-0.
