V.League Remains Open Ahead Of Final Day

Despite Hanoi wrapping up the V.League title in record time this season, many crucial aspects of the league remain up for grabs going into the final game of the season.

The most significant of these is the crucial relegation clash between Nam Dinh and Can Tho FC. The former currently have a three point advantage over their upcoming opponents and occupy the relegation playoff spot.

The do-or-die circumstances of this game mean that the loser will drop into the second division for next season, while the winner will be gifted a final chance to save themselves with a match against the runners up from the V.League 2.

Nothing but a win would suffice for Can Tho as they need to cover the three-point deficit which stands between them and potential safety. Tie-breakers are decided by head-to-head record in the division, meaning that the tie is perfectly balanced given that the previous meeting between the two sides ended in a scoreless draw.

Elsewhere, the race for the AFC Cup remains open. FLC Thanh Hoa and Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN occupy the second and third spots, and are tied on 43 points. If Champions Hanoi add to their trophy haul this season by winning the Vietnamese Cup, both sides will have free passage into the continents secondary competition. However, neither side will be willing to run that risk as the race for second place remains heated as they are in direct competition on the final day of the season.

Sanna Khanh Hoa will be looking to build upon their appearance at the 2017 Mekong Club Championship with a chance to feature on an even more elevated stage.

Ultimately, crucial games between adjacent teams near both the top and bottom of the table are likely to make this a particularly enthralling and memorable final matchday.
