Vietnam had an easy outing with a 5-0 win over the Philippines at the Gelora Delta Stadium in the 2018 AFF U-19 Youth Championship.
Vietnam coach Hoang Anh Tuan made 8 changes in his squad following the disappointing goalless draw against rivals Thailand in the opening game.
However, those changes made the Vietnamese players lose their pace and they were punished with a penalty after a defender committed a foul in the penalty area.
Fortunately, the penalty shot was denied by a great effort from goalkeeper Y Eli Nie.
It took 29 minutes for the Young Golden Stars to break the deadlock with a goal of Le Van Nam before the striker doubled the lead with his second attempt.
Vietnam found the attacking verve in the second half and added three more goals, including a brace of Minh Binh and a winner of Hong Son, to seal a big win.
The result put Vietnam in the second position of Group A with four points, while Indonesia stay at the top with 2 points ahead.
