Danish winger Johan Absalonsen has departed A-League club Adelaide United to return to his native Denmark, the club announced on Wednesday.
Absalonsen joined Adelaide United, where he scored 2 goals in 16 appearances, on a one-year deal last July.
The 32-year-old will return to his former club SonderjyskE after rejecting an improved deal with the Reds.
“It’s unfortunate to be losing Johan after last season,” Adelaide coach Ante Kovacevic said in a statement, as quoted by SBS The World Game.
“There’s no denying that it was a difficult season for Johan because he had some big injuries that kept him off the pitch for a long time.
“We were open with Johan in wanting to keep him and offered him a new contract but he has chosen to return home because of his family.
