Sydney FC sign youth development partnership deal with Ajax Amsterdam

Sydney FC have signed a partnership contract with European giants Ajax Amsterdam in youth development, both sides announced on Tuesday.

The three-year agreement will see Sydney FC developing their collaboration with the Ajax coaching academy, in which staffs from the two clubs exchange knowledge in the fields of coach education and football development.

Ajax will help identify the most promising young talents in Australia by organising clinics and coaching seminars in cities across Australia. The best players will be offered a football scholarship at Sydney FC.

Edwin van der Sar, Ajax chief executive officer and former Dutch international goalkeeper, stated that the partnership was a fantastic deal for both parties.

“We feel this is an extremely interesting partnership both from a football technical point of view, while at the same time it offers a possibility to strengthen Ajax’s reputation as the best football development institution of the world,” he said, as quoted by SBS The World Game.

The partnership comes after the Australia side took part in the 2018 Future Cup, which was hosted by the Ajax Academy.
