Coach Milovan Rajevac asked Thai football clubs to release players for the national team during the Thai League season break.
According to Rajevac’s plan, Thailand will play an international friendly in Europe during the mid-season break in Thai League 1 from 28 May to 5 June.
“After King’s Cup, we don’t have any game to play. I think the break period is too long for the national team, so I want to take the Thai national team to Europe by the end of May,” Rajevac said.
“If we can go to Europe, we will play with a good team. But if we can’t, we will play in Thailand.”
In earlier March, Rajevac had announced his plan to take the Thai national team to Austria for a two-week training stint during the mid-season hiatus.
However, he faced backlash from high-ranking Thai League 1 team officials, who raises concerns for players’ fitness during the overseas training camp.
Before the AFC Asian Cup, which takes place in January 2019 in UAE, Thailand will try to defend their Suzuki Cup later this year.
