Iran goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi joins Swedish club GIF Sundsvall

Alireza Haghighi, who was Iran first-choice goalkeeper at 2014 World Cup, has joined GIF Sundsvall on a three-month contract.

Starting his career at Tehran giants Persepolis at the age of 16, the 29-year-old keeper had represented for the outfits of Rubin Kazan, Sporting Covilha, Penafiel, and Maritimo.

In March 2017, Haghighi signed a one-year contract with the Swedish club AFC Eskilstuna. However, his major injury made him rule out for several months shortly after joining the club.

Haghighi is one the most good looking players of Iran football and his charming appearance attracted attention during 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He also showed a decent performance against title favorites Argentina in the group stage.
