Minerva’s claim of being approached by a rival club is investigated

AIFF confirms through media release that Minerva’s claim of being approached by a rival club is being investigated.

As I-League is set for a dramatic final day clash involving Minerva Punjab FC, East Bengal FC, Mohun Bagan and NEROCA FC with all four teams having a chance to win the championship as a result of complex permutations, controversy showed its ugly head with a letter from Minerva Punjab FC to AIFF.

In a sensational claim, Minerva Punjab FC owner Ranjit Bajaj accused a rival club (name withheld) of offering money to lose their final encounter to Churchill Brothers FC.

AIFF officials on Wednesday confirmed through a media release stating “We have received a letter from Minerva Punjab Football Club highlighting an approach to their players and officials from other participating teams in the Hero I-League.

The case is presently being handled by AIFF Integrity officer who is doing a thorough investigation into the matter and necessary action will be taken as per the regulations.”
