South Korea president Moon Jae-in congratulated Vietnam for the team’s success at the AFC U-23 Championship.
Vietnam U-23, who are coached by South Korean manager Park Hang-seo, has been the phenomenon of the tournament despite the country’s 1-2 defeat to Uzbekistan in the final on Saturday.
Following the final, Moon posted on his official Facebook page to praise the spirit of the Vietnam team and the contribution of coach Park to the relationship between two countries.
“I saw real sporting spirit in the blizzard,” Moon said in a Facebook post on Saturday night
“The spirit reached its peak in the blizzard,” he said, referring to the heavy snow in Changzhou, China, which forced a long break for the snow to be cleared.
On the other hand, Moon said he was glad that through football “Korea and Vietnam have become close friends.”
