There have been multiple reports that the Brazilian centre-back wants to join compatriots Oscar and Hulk in the Chinese Super League side.
However, as reported by Daily Mail, Shanghai SIPG spokesperson confirmed that no signings would be made until the summer transfer window at the earliest.
“We have already had four foreign players in our squad,’ an SIPG official told Xinmin Evening News.
‘The club will not make changes in personnel, at least in the first half of the season.”
Chinese Super League clubs are allowed to register four foreign players in their squad.
Currently, Shanghai SIPG have three Brazilian stars Hulk, Oscar, Elkeson and Uzbekistan captain Odil Ahmedov on their books.
