Changchun Yatai rule out Odion Ighalo’s return to England

Chinese Super League outfit Changchun Yatai have branded reports suggesting that he could return to the English Premier League ‘a fake news’.

The 28-year-old striker went on to hit 15 goals in his 27 CSL appearances since making a move from Watford for a reported fee £20m in January last year.

Last week, Sky Sports News claimed that the Nigerian international would be willing to listen to offers from Premier League clubs, with West Bromwich Albion reportedly among those interested in him.

However, Changchun chairman Liu Yuming has quashed those rumours through the club’s official website.

“There is a lack of journalistic integrity in some media outlets, whose low-budget fake news not only have negative influence on our players’ training, but also put the whole CSL in jeopardy,” he said.

“Those baseless fake news spread quickly across the Internet and severely effect our preparations [for the new season]. The club have no choice but to put our players on the front line, so as to strike back at those fake news.”

Liu also rubbished reports claimed that his side will be considering a move for CSKA Sofia striker Fernando Karanga.

“We already have a brilliant striker in Ighalo. Why bother buying another foreign one?” he concluded.
