Chonburi FC to appoint Japanese Takashi Sekizuka as head coach

Chonburi FC are to appoint Japanese Takashi Sekizuka as the new head coach of the club, according to reports from Thailand.

Chonburi FC technical director Withaya Laohakul told the THSPORT on Sunday that the club would announce the signing with Sekizuka in the next 2 or 3 days.

“From the list of candidates, we have chosen Takashi Sekizuka and offered him a contract,” Withaya said.

“We have not agreed to the contract but can decide it in the next 2 to 3 days. We will announce it soon.”
Sekizuka has been a familiar face to Japan football scene. After retiring from playing football, he rose to become one of the most famous consultants in Japanese leagues.
Taking over the coaching job at Kawasaki Frontale in 2004, the 57-year-old guided the club to win the J2 League title.

In 2012, Sekizuka lead the Japanese U-23 team to the fourth place in the London Olympic Games football game.

After that, he returned to J-League with club experience at Jubilo Iwata and JEF United Chiba.
