South Korean star Son Heung-min has been named as the best International Asian Player of the year.
The Tottenham Hotspur forward beat challenges from Huddersfield’s Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa from Japan to win the award for Asians who play overseas.
Son had a prolific campaign in the English Premier League last season, netted 14 goals for Spurs from 34 starts in all competitions and helped his team to finish second.
In international level, the 25-year-old also helped South Korea to qualify for their ninth straight World Cup in Russia next year.
It was the second AFC’s award for Son in his career, a year after losing out to Japan national team star and Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki.
