Shanghai Shenhua allow Carlos Tevez to decide his future

Shanghai Shenhua will let Carlos Tevez decide whether he wants to stay or leave the Chinese Super League, according to the official statement from the club on Wednesday.

“Tevez will decide whether to stay or leave. His future hinges on the decision made by himself instead of Shenhua Football Club,” Shenhua said during a news briefing, as reported by Daily Mail.

“Tevez’s attitude, of which Shenhua have no control, will have a direct bearing on his performance. In other words, even if Shenhua really want to keep him at the club and see him play well, Tevez still has the final say.”

The CFA Cup champions admitted that they have had offers for Tevez but could not force him to go anywhere.

“It is true that we have received bids from other clubs to buy Tevez, but Shenhua hope he expresses his true feelings first. Otherwise, all efforts will go in vain.

“Shenhua have no chance of selling Tevez to a club where he doesn’t want to join.”

On Wednesday, Shenhua deputy general manager Zhou Jun did not rule out the possibility of extending the contract of Tevez, despite the Argentine star’s poor performances this season.
