Head coach Andre Villas-Boas announced his departure from Shanghai SIPG and intended to take a break from football, as reported by English media outlet The Telegraph on Wednesday.
Telegraph claims the Portuguese tactician could be set for a stunning return to the Premier League as Everton’s new manager but he stated that he did not intend to work in England again.
On the other hand, Villas-Boas was offered a one-year contract extension but he was believed to turn it down.
Despite being pumped with enormous financial support, Villas-Boas and his side were left empty-handed at the end of the frustrating season, following the defeat to local rivals Shenhua at CFA final.
Under Villas-Boas, SIPG finished second in the CSL behind Guangzhou Evergrande and went out in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League.
