Malaysia Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have completed the signing of Canadian international defender La’Vere Corbin-Ong.
JDT announced their new player on the club’s official website on Friday.
Corbin-Ong joins the Malaysian club from Dutch second-tier side Go Ahead Eagles, where he has spent less than six months following five years in the German lower leagues.
Born to a Barbadian father and a Malaysian mother, the defender was born in England but only spent a year there before his family moved to Canada.
Therefore, the Malaysia descent enables him to be classified as a naturalized player, rather than one of the foreign quota.
