Former Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart has downplayed rumours linking himself with a potential move to Bali United.
The 34-year-old midfielder is in the middle of a two-year deal with Danish side FC Midtjylland but has not appeared for them this term.
Van der Vaart revealed that he is aware of the transfer rumours, with Indonesian Liga 1 outfit are looking to make the former Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid player their marquee signing.
“It is the news that I heard, but it is not true,” he told German media Sport1. “But I will stay in Denmark, at least until the winter season.”
Bali United are keen to strengthen the squad to make an impact in the AFC Champions League play-off next year after finishing in the second place of Liga 1 this season.
Van der Vaart has ben capped by the Netherlands in 109 international games between 2001 and 2013 and he represented his nation at three UEFA European Championships and two FIFA World Cups.
