Spanish legend Xavi announces retirement plan

Barcelona legend Xavi revealed he was ready to retire from playing football at the end of the season, as reported by Marca.

“I have had the luck of not having injuries and I think my career has gone down progressively,” Xavi said.

“I also see that I am getting more tired and that it is harder for me to recover and I am sure that it is my last year as a football player.”

On the other hand, the Spaniard stated his intention to pursue a coaching career.

“I have the idea of issuing a licence and becoming a coach next year,” he added.

The 37-year-old midfielder, who announced his retirement from international football in 2014, is currently playing for Qatar’s Al-Sadd.

Xavi became the legend for both Spain and Barcelona for his incredible career, which included eight La Liga titles, four Champions League wins, a World Cup and two European Championships.
