Cambodia coach Leonardo Vitorino believed in a victory over Vietnam in their 2019 Asian Cup rematch on 10 October.
“The players have too little time for training since they just joined the training sessions on 1 October. So the friendly against Indonesia will be our crucial test, especially after we made some changes in the squad,” Vitorino told in a press conference, as quoted by Vietnamnet.
“If we could win Indonesia, we would have nothing to fear against Vietnam. If we could earn three points from them, I believe we could reach the 2019 Asian Cup finals,” he added.
In the first match between the two teams on 5 September, a late winner from Quang Hai gave Vietnam a hard-fought three points in Cambodia.
This defeat slumped Cambodia into the third spot in Group C, with four points behind leaders Jordan.
