Cambodia national team head coach: We are “not at the same level” with Vietnam

Cambodia head coach Leonardo Vitorino has admitted that his team are “not at the same level” with Vietnam ahead of the 2019 Asian Cup qualifier between two teams on 10 October.

“Cambodia has made a lot of progress since I took over, but it is not accurate to say that we are close to the level of Vietnam. Apparently, Vietnam football has better players than us. But I’m trying to improve the organization, playing style and spirit of Cambodia football team,” Vitorino told during the press conference on Wednesday, as quoted by Nguoi Dua Tin.

On the other hand, the Brazilian stated that his side would not be so affected by the decision from Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to change the venue of this match from Ho Chi Minh, which is much closer to Cambodia, to capital city Hanoi.

“I think VFF’s decision to change venue is not a problem for us. It should be said that we just want to focus on good practice to prepare for the game, and professional players have to cope with all the conditions. I know that Vietnam want to play at My Dinh stadium since that day is a big occasion in Hanoi,” he added.
