North Korea defend AFC U-16 Women’s championship title

North Korea have defended their AFC U-16 Women’s Championship title following a 2-0 win over South Korea in the final on Saturday.

Goals from Ri Su-jong and Kim Kyong-yong secured the victory for coach Song Sung-gwon’s side, who outplayed their neighbors with fast-paced attacking strategy.

Moreover, goalkeeper Kang Ji-yeon was also the heroine for North Korea as she managed to make a number of key saves and blocked most of the efforts from opponents.

Being crowned for the third time, North Korea are now level with Japan as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
