Ong Kim Swee set to extend contract with FAM

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has decided to renew the contract with national U-22 head coach Ong Kim Swee.

After guiding Malaysia U-22 to the 2017 SEA Games final, the name of Ong Kim Swee touted interest in several clubs in Indonesia.

However, FAM has agreed to offer a one or two-year contract extension with the 46-year-old, whose current contract will expire on 31 December this year.

“I’m sure I can still contribute to the national youth team,” Ong told media reporters during the meeting with FAM on Tuesday, as quoted by Bola.

“I have talked to Tunku Ismail [FAM president] and I believe his support and the football governing body will help the team achieve more success in the future.”

After signing the contract, Ong has to face the task of preparing his team for the AFC U23 Championship in China next January.
