Egy Maulana Vikri was the hero of Indonesia’s third place match win over Myanmar as he came out as the 2017 AFF U-18 Youth Championship top scorer.
The 17-year-old forward was prolific for the Garuda Nusantara during the tournament, where he scored eight goals in eight appearances.
Speaking to the reporters after picking up the award, Egy paid tribute to his teammates on his individual success story in Myanmar.
“Praise to the God that I could score many goals to become top scorer,” he said. “I couldn’t have done it without my team.”
Egy made his debut for the youth Indonesia side in the Toulon Tournament las June in France. His impressive performance at the tournament earned him the Breakthrough Player award.
