Shanghai Shenhua’s Cao Yunding: Tevez is not to blame

Midfielder Cao Yunding has called on Shanghai Shenhua fans not to blame Carlos Tevez for his side’s dismal performance following the 6-1 defeat to Shanghai SIGP.

Carlos Tevez climbed off the bench to score just his third Chinese Super League goal but could not save Shanghai Shenhua from the fifth consecutive loss in the league.

“These days, everybody is abusing [deputy general manager] Zhou Jun and [president] Wu Xiaohui because they are guilty of bringing in Tevez,” Cao said in an open letter to supporters, as quoted by Goal Spain.

“To be fair, we should not pin all the blame on the poor form of Tevez. If a team is doing well just because of one single great player, it won’t last long. Even Hulk went through a rough patch last season,” he added.
