Gerd Zeise interested in coaching Vietnam national team

Myanmar national team head coach Gerd Zeise has reportedly joined the long list of candidates who are expressing their desire to lead Vietnam’s squad after former boss Nguyen Huu Thang resigned in last month’s SEA Games.

Via his representative, Zeise has sent his portfolio to Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), as reported by Vietnam news site Zing.vn.

The 65-year-old German has met most of the requirements that VFF sets for the national team head coach post, including owning professional FIFA coaching certificate, good English language skill, and experience in the coaching job.

On the other hand, he used to be in charge of sports director for V League 1’s side SHB Da Nang in 2006, which is considered to be his advantage among other candidates.

Zeise is a popular figure in both Myanmar and South-east Asian football with his impressive achievements. Most significantly, he successfully led the Myanmar youth squad to the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015.
