FC Tokyo fire head coach Yoshiyuki Shinoda

FC Tokyo has terminated the contract with head coach Yoshiyuki Shinoda due to the team’s recent dismal performance.

After that, the J-League 1 club appointed ssistant Takayoshi Anma, who has been with the club since 2015, as caretaker.

Shinoda was promoted to FC Tokyo’s top spot to replace fired manager Hiroshi Jofuku in July last year.

Despite spending heavily for this season by signing two-time World Cup striker Yoshito Okubo, Nigerian international Peter Utaka and former Japan forward Kensuke Nagai, Tokyo is slumping to 10th in the 18-team standings.

It has been reported that Tokyo is chasing former Sanfrecce Hiroshima coach Hajime Moriyasu.
