Shanghai Shenhua have targeted former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique to replace Gustavo Poyet in the coaching role.
Enrique, whose contract expired last June, opted to take a 12-month sabbatical following his departure from Camp Nou at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
According to reports from TMW, Shanghai Shenhua have former Barcelona under their radar after a disappointing season, in which the big-spending club were slumping to 11th in the Chinese Super League fixture.
Despite having spent large sums on money strengthening their team, the Shanghai-based lost in the preliminary round of the AFC Champions League against Brisbane Roar this year and have nothing to fight for in their domestic league.
