Indonesian supporter killed by flare during friendly match

Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has confirmed the death of a supporter, who was killed by a flare at the Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi City, on Saturday evening.

The accident occurred when Catur Yuliantoro was watching the friendly match between the Indonesia national team and Fiji.

As reported by local media, the cause of his death came from a flare rocket that was allegedly fired at him by another supporter standing at the south stand. The victim then lost his life on the way to the hospital.

“We are sorry for this incident and are ready to take responsibility until the funeral process,” PSSI secretary general Ratu Tisha Destria said after the incident, as quoted by Bola.net.

“We strongly condemn this act because it can destroy our football in the future,” said Tisha.

Police are conducting the investigation of this tragic incident. However, they have not released the identity of the suspect.
