Myanmar U-22 coach Gerd Zeise ready to take on Thailand

Myanmar U-22 coach Gerd Zeise is ready to dethrone the SEA Games defending champions Thailand when the two teams square off in the semi-final clash at Selayang Stadium on Saturday evening.

Progressing to the semis after squashing strong contenders Indonesia and Vietnam, Thailand seem to outweigh the dark horse Myanmar.

However, Zeise’s side can take advantage of a decent four-day interval and the attacking force, lead by captain Aung Thu, to continue their hunt for the long-awaiting gold medal in the regional football tournament.

“Our players motivate each other very well and work together as a unit just as it is supposed to be,’’ said Zeise, as quoted by Zing.vn

“At this level we have a 50/50 chance. We can’t afford to make any mistakes in order to compete well and beat Thailand,” the German said, confident in his side’s ability to rise to the big occasion.
