Thailand coach Worrawoot Srimaka: Vietnam victory beyond everyone’s expectations

Thailand have advanced to the SEA Games semi-final after disposing Vietnam in the final fixture of Group B.

The War Elephants have been in high spirits as they defeated heavyweights Vietnam, who led the group standings until the start of final game, to move into the semis as the group winners.

This emphatic win is the answer of head coach Worrawoot Srimaka for the public criticism drawn to his players due to their low start in the competition.

“The players were very motivated and they succeeded in producing a good result today,” Worrawoot told the Bangkok Post.

“In fact, Vietnam are a good team and we both should have qualified for the semi-finals but the 3-0 result was beyond everyone’s expectations

“We have been playing under pressure since the start of the tournament because we came here as two-time defending champions. The expectations of the fans are weighing heavily on us.”

The War Elephants will continue their title defending campaign by playing against Myanmar in the semi-final on Saturday.
