Chinese referee ends second division match early to catch flight

A Chinese referee ended a China League One match early because he was afraid of missing a flight at a nearby airport.

The first half between Hangzhou Greentown’s reserve side and Meixian Techand last week was cut short to 40 minutes, while the second lasted for only 38 minutes.

Hangzhou confirmed to Chengdu Economic Daily that the game the referee left early as there is only flight scheduled daily at the nearest airport.

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) is investigating the incident.

Hangzhou Greentown currently participates in the China League One division. They are standing at the 8th position with 26 points.
